Crowns

Crowns (also known as caps) can be used to restore, protect, and improve the strength of heavily filled or decayed teeth. Crowns fit over the remaining part of your tooth that has been adjusted – this means filing the natural tooth to a specific shape, with dimensions that are favourable to the long-term mechanical stability and survival of the crown that is to be fitted.

Crowns are so advanced these days that they can be made to be indistinguishable from a natural tooth. They can be made of several different materials such as shiny metal, gold, or metal core with a thin layer of porcelain on top. At the Wooding Dental Group, we prefer to use cosmetic porcelain crowns in almost all situations because they not only look amazing but in more recent times they have become better than their metal counterparts.

We have invested in CEREC technology to produce these porcelain crowns, so that we can offer crowns in two same-day appointments. CEREC technology means your crowns are made using computers rather than by hand. This ensures you receive work which is a perfect match for your mouth without the risk of hand made human-errors.
