Gum Care

It has been shown that more people lose teeth through poor gum health than tooth decay. Gum disease often goes unnoticed and is not painful for many years, up until the point you start losing teeth. By then it is too late. Prevention is not only better than cure, it the case of Gum Care, it is the cure.

At all of our practices we undertake a full check of the gums during every examination. We also have several dental hygienists as part of our team who will professionally remove plaque, tartar and staining. It has been scientifically proven that excellent oral hygiene is crucial in maintaining healthy gums and this is why we promote the use of interproximal brushes as well as traditional toothbrushing. We will fully explain and demonstrate this concept during your hygiene appointments.

As NHS practices we follow the ‘Perio Pathway’ which means that patients have to fit a strict criteria to qualify for gum disease treatments on the NHS. For those who do not fall into this category, we offer a range of dental plans that all include hygiene appointments.

You can also access the hygienists without having a dental examination first. Appointments are 40 minutes long for first-time patients to ensure all advice and techniques are shared, alongside your clean.
